Facebook introduces video on Instagram

June 22, 2013 5 comments

BaltNEW YORK: Facebook is adding video to its popular photo-sharing app Instagram, following in the heels of Twitter’s growing video-sharing app, Vine.

Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom said on Thursday that users will be able to record and share 15-second clips by tapping a video icon in the app. They can also apply filters to videos to add contrast, make them black and white or different hues.

“This is the same Instagram we all know and love but it moves,” he said at an event held at Facebook’s Menlo Park, California, headquarters.

Vine, which launched in January, has 13 million users and lets people create and share 6-second video clips. Instagram has 100 million users, up from 20 million when Facebook bought the company more than a year ago. If users like it, Facebook’s move could propel mobile video sharing into the mainstream.

To use the video feature, Instagram users can tap on the same camera icon they use to snap photos. A new video camera icon will appear on the right side. Tap it and a screen with a red video button will let you record clips of sunsets, kids running in parks or co-workers staring at their computer screens.

The app will record as long as your finger is on the red button or for 15 seconds, whichever comes first. Not unlike Vine, taking your finger off the button will stop the recording, allowing you to shoot the scene from a different angle or record something else altogether. Once you have 15 seconds of footage, you can play it from the beginning and post it on Instagram to share with others.

Given Vine’s popularity, “it is perhaps more surprising that Facebook has not introduced video for Instagram sooner. There is no doubt Twitter will move quickly to up the ante on Vine and this could undercut Facebook’s efforts with video on Instagram,” said Eden Zoller, principal consumer analyst at Ovum, a technology research firm.

Superstar Rajinikanth celebrates his 60th birthday today and he will be spending the day with his family. Rajini’s birthday is no less than a festival for his fans the world over.

It is reported that his family and close friends have organized a Shashitabadapoorthi puja (60th birthday celebrations) at the famous Tirukkadiyur temple near Tiruchi. However, it should come to no one’s surprise that Rajini’s fans will be lining up for special poojas and welfare activities for their favourite idol.

Shivaji Rao Gaekwad was on December 12, 1949 and had very humble beginnings. He served as a ticket collector in a local shuttle bus in Bangalore when he was discovered by the legendary K. Balachander who renamed him Rajinikanth.

The year has been exceptional for Rajini. Breaking all box office records Endhiran has emerged as the biggest hit ever. There have also been two new additions to his family. Daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth, who is married to actor Dhanush gave birth to a baby boy and his other daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth got married to industrialist Ashwin Kumar.

selvabalaji.wordpress.com  wishes Rajinikanth a very happy birthday!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 12,000 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 – Crowning Glory for India

The 2011 Cricket World Cup tournament lit up our TV screens with high quality play, absolute rubbish, highlights, lowlights, pluck, timidity and a mass of other notables. Here are some of the things The Daily Maverick can praise, bewail and argue about.

Hosts winning

While we may be pretty serious fans of cricket, and sport in general, in South Africa, we are nowhere near as obsessive about it as India. The Indian team’s victory in the Final in front of their own blaring fans in their premier city is one of the most romantic scripts that could be written for the game. That they did it with a South African coach added to the gut-warming feeling we were permitted as the news channels broadcast one happy Indian fan after another.

Plucky cricket

Two teams at the tournament showed that talent isn’t the sole ingredient for success. New Zealand and Ireland both showed what a bit of grit, pressurising fielding and counter-attacking mentality can achieve. Ireland came from behind to beat England and chased down a massive Dutch score, and New Zealand knocked out South Africa when a betting man (who had never seen South Africa play in a knockout match before) would have put all of his money on the Proteas.

Umpiring

This was the first World Cup to feature the Umpire Decision Review System and has finally meant that we have statistical evidence to see which of the umpires are the best. In a show of initiative not seen since they last decided to disagree with whatever the BCCI said, the ICC actually removed the underperforming Asoka de Silva from important World Cup fixtures after he hashed a few games. Marais Erasmus, South Africa’s representative at the tournament, had a good run and, to our knowledge, only had one decision overturned.

The Bad

South Africa

It was a familiar sight to see South Africa return to Mzansi within a day of their first knockout fixture. After the farcical 1992 semi-final, the Proteas have managed to cock up the quarters in 1996, the tied semi in 1999, semis in 2009 and 2011. Add to that the fire-spittingly haemorrhaging 2003 “knockout” game against Sri Lanka and you’ll see why SA cricket fans have earned the right to government-subsidised anti-depressants.

The West Indies
We didn’t need a reminder, but we had confirmation that the swashbuckling days of swaggering batsmen and giant fast-bowlers are completely over. The West Indies folded meekly against South Africa, England, India and in the quarter-final against Pakistan. Watching Darren Sammy bowl his dibbly-dobblies at first change for the team that once produced skull- and toe-crunching bowlers like Andy Roberts, Malcolm Marshall, Joel Garner and Curtly Ambrose was worse than sad.

The Final toss

The toss circus in the Final was a good indication that the odd batsman walking does not a dignified sport make, nor does the presence of a match-referee actually serve a purpose in a cricket match. If the game was what we wanted it to be, MS Dhoni could have just asked Kumar Sangakkarra what he had called and we all could have moved on. Had the match referee, the same one who wanted Sri Lanka batting in the dark in the 2007 Final, paid any sort of attention this could also have been avoided.

The Unexpected

England

England usually fall over flat and die in the group stages of World Cups or they do very well throughout. England qualified for the Final in 1987 and 1992 (losing to Australia and Pakistan respectively) but then crashed out in the group stage of the 1996, 1999 and 2003 tournaments. This year’s Cricket World Cup had an England which managed to lose to Ireland and Bangladesh, beat South Africa, scrape a win against the Netherlands and tie with India. The Empire XI showcased one of the best batsmen of the tournament (Jonathan Trott), the innings of the tournament (Andrew Strauss’ 158 vs India), the bowling spells of the tournament (Stuart Broad’s 4/15 vs South Africa) and yet England were sent packing by Sri Lanka in the quarter-finals.

Robin Peterson

We humbly admit we had no faith in Robin Peterson when he was selected in the SA World Cup squad. We thought he had only been brought as cover for Imran Tahir and Johan Botha, and he would only get a game if one of them did themselves in. How incredibly wrong we were. With sporting pitches, Peterson was South Africa’s most successful bowler in the tournament, picking up 15 wickets at an average of 15, and he only went for 4.25 an over. Incredible stuff. He was the second most penetrative spinner and the fourth highest wicket-taker overall.

Team of the tournament

Absolutely the most contentious part of any World Cup review, this is our team of the tournament:

  • Sachin Tendulkar
  • TM Dilshan
  • Jonathan Trott
  • Kumar Sangakkara (c)
  • Yuvraj Singh
  • Mahela Jayawardene
  • Mohammad Hafeez
  • Shahid Afridi
  • Zaheer Khan
  • Tim Southee
  • Ray Price/Dale Steyn
  • 12th man: AB de Villiers

Tendulkar and Dilshan are no-brainer selections. Trott makes it in on sheer weight of runs, which he scored at a strike rate of more than 80. Yuvraj was man of the tournament as his scoring was up there with the best and he chipped in with 15 wickets with what look like left-arm spinners to us, but are evidently scud-missiles when one is holding a bat at 20m.

Photo: Sri Lanka’s captain and wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara speaks with Muttiah Muralitharan, who is playing in his last Cricket World Cup, after their team beat New Zealand in their ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 semi-final match in Colombo March 29, 2011. REUTERS/Dinuka Liyanawatte.

We know we left out Dhoni, the World Cup winning captain who turned the Final around India’s way, but his batting throughout the tournament wasn’t so hot. Sangakkara’s blade was far more consistent. He is paired in the middle order with Mahela Jayawardene who scored two centuries in the World Cup, including that delicious knock in the Final.

Mohammad Hafeez sneaks in ahead of Ajantha Mandis because of his superb economy rate of 3.5 and his ability to bat. He isn’t a great batsman, and his constant opening says more about Pakistan’s depth than it does about his skills. If we picked Mendis then Afridi would come in at number seven and we think that’s a place too early. We prefer Hafeez there.

Ray Price also sneaked in because of his economy rate, but his selection would be dependent on the wicket. If it suited pace bowlers Dale Steyn would come in for him. Price is an incredible player. He bowls left-arm spin with the new ball for a team that gets walloped every time it plays someone decent. To have an economy rate below 3.5 in any context is superb. While representing Zimbabwe, it is super-human.

Tim Southee and Zaheer Khan were far and away the top fast bowlers of the tournament. Southee has found an extra bit of pace which, coupled with his bounce, snagged him 18 wickets in eight games. To put that into perspective, he never took more than three wickets in a match – underlying his consistency. Compare that to Malinga – if you take away his six-wicket haul against Kenya he only took seven wickets at 33.

2015

A decent tournament recipe has finally been found. The complicated Super 6 and Super 8 varieties were tossed out and a round-robin format resulting in knockouts was adopted. If any tinkering were done further, we would recommend removing two of the minnow teams – Canada, Kenya and the Netherlands didn’t add much to the tournament – and hastening up the group stage by playing more than one fixture a day. The group stage in this tournament took longer than the entire FIFA World Cup did last year.

Only four years to go until the next one… DM

Bhavani Movie Review

March 14, 2011 2 comments

Cast: Sneha, Vivek, Kotasrinivasa Rao, Sambath, Delhi Ganesh

Direction: G Kicha

Music: Dheena

Having seen Sneha playing a girl next door in her earlier films, ‘Bhavani’ comes as a surprise for all her fans. She gets into the boot of Vijayashanthi to play a powerful police woman in this remake of ‘Vaijayanthi IPS’. There is crime, action, politics and of course sentiment in ‘Bhavani’, directed and produced by Kiccha.

The movie speaks about a valourous woman who fights the evils in the society. It has enough enthralling moments, but Kiccha seems to have missed out the opportunity on weaving all essential ingredients together to make it an engrosser. For the movie proceeds in predictable way in most parts.

Sneha dons her role with dignity and right intensity. She brings out the anger that one would normally associate with lead actors playing tough police officers. Then there are seasoned campaigners like Kotta Sreenivasa Rao, Delhi Ganesh, Raj Kapoor and Sampath Kumar among others in the cast.

Bhavani (Sneha), an honest police officer in Hyderabad, is posted as Assistant Commissioner of police in Tirunelvei upon the request of Tamil Nadu government. The town is controlled by Sivalingam (Kotta Srinivasa Rao), a rich and influential baddie and an aspiring politician. He indulges in all unlawful activities.

Bhavani resolves to put an end to all his acts. Meanwhile there is one Surya (Sampath Kumar), who voices against Sivalingam. As it happens, Sivalingam’s son Ranjith (Aryan) plays spoilsport in the life of Bhavani’s sister. Efforts to prove him guilty by Bhavani end in vain.

Now a conspiracy is hatched by Bhavani in the company of Suriya and Ranjith gets killed. An enraged Sivalingam takes Bhavani head-on. The cat and mouse begins that ends well.

It is a Sneha’s show all through. The actress is at her best donning the khaakhi. She is agile, fit and active. Especially in stunt sequences, she is at ease. As usual Kotta Srinivasa Rao speaks from his belly, and oozes menace in his eyes. Then there is Sampath Kumar playing his part well. Ilavarasu and Delhi Ganesh add value.

Dhina has come up with some racy songs while Boopathy cranks the camera well, especially the stunt sequences. Due credit should be given to ‘Thalapathy Dinesh’ who has choreographed action scenes.

All said, Kiccha has rendered a movie that has a familiar theme. Had he concentrated more on screenplay, ‘Bhavani’ would have been more trim and fit.

Sehwag ‘fully fit’ for World Cup

Virender Sehwag missed the ODIs in South Africa to attend to the shoulder injured

Virender Sehwag, India‘s vice-captain for the World Cup, has said that he is “fully fit” for the tournament that begins on February 19. Sehwag missed India’s five-match one-day series following the Tests in South Africa to attend to a shoulder injury, but says his recovery is well on track.

“I was feeling some pain in my shoulder,” Sehwag told Indian news channel CNN-IBN. “So [I thought it was] better to quit the South Africa one-dayers. I didn’t want to get injured in South Africa tour and miss the World Cup. So I came back and went to Germany to see a couple of doctors. I got a couple of injections and now I’m fine.

“I am going to the National Cricket Academy [in Bangalore] and will spend a couple of days there, to check everything – if I can bowl and throw also but if I can’t, then I’ll let them know. But yes, at the moment I’m fully fit.”

Sehwag is wary of the opening game against Bangladesh, who had derailed India’s 2007 World Cup campaign with a shock win. “Because we’re playing the opening game against them in Bangladesh, Bangladeshi people are expecting them to beat us again. But this time we have to prepare well … You can say it is a revenge game for us and we won’t take the game lightly. We will give our best shot and we will come hard on Bangladesh.”

Sehwag was confident of India’s chances against the other major teams in Group B – South Africa, England and West Indies. “When we played against England last time, we won 5-0 and against South Africa we did well in South Africa and we have done well; when Sachin Tendulkar got the double hundred [in Gwalior], we won the series. West Indies have good players like Pollard and Gayle, if they click then maybe it’s difficult for us but India also have very good players.”

Raja, aides arrested in 2G spectrum scam

February 2, 2011 Leave a comment

Former Telecom Minister A. Raja was on Wednesday arrested along with his two former associates in connection with the 2G spectrum scam.

Mr. Raja arrived at the Central Bureau of Investigation headquarters on Wednesday morning, a day after his brother A.K. Perumal was questioned by the agency about alleged funding of some front organisations owned by telecom companies which had been allocated spectrum from October 2007 to January 2008, official sources said.

Mr. Raja, his former personal secretary R.K. Chandolia and former Telecom Secretary Siddartha Behura were arrested for allegedly abusing their official position and manipulating the tendering procedures to benefit certain telecom companies in getting the spectrum.

The arrest of 47-year-old Mr. Raja, who has been questioned four times by the agency, comes over two months after he was forced to resign in the wake of the spectrum controversy.

Mr. Raja, who was questioned earlier on December 24 and 25 last year and January 31, was called to the CBI office on Wednesday morning and quizzed before being arrested, the sources said.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MP had been confronted with some questions and documents recovered from the computers seized during searches conducted by the investigation agency earlier at his premises, the sources said.

He was also asked about his conversations with corporate lobbyist Niira Radia and the reasons for advancing the cut-off date of applying for license for spectrum allocation in 2007 by a week.

Mr. Raja was forced to resign on November 14 last year in the wake of the CAG report which held that the spectrum allocation at undervalued prices resulted in a notional loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore to the state exchequer.

The Supreme Court has asked the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate to submit status reports on their investigations into the 2G spectrum case to it by February 10 when the case will come up for further hearing.

In its FIR, the CBI mentioned the loss in spectrum allocation as Rs. 22,000 crore based on Central Vigilance Commission findings which had referred the case to it.

The CBI has also questioned former Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) chief Pradip Baijal, a 1966 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, and former Telecom Secretary D.S. Mathur in connection with the case.

Smith puts India in after rain delay

Toss South Africa chose to bowl v India
Live scorecard and ball-by-ball-details

Dale Steyn v Virender Sehwag, the contest billed as the key to the series, the contest everyone wanted to see, had to wait for four and a half hours because of the miserable weather in Centurion. Overnight and early-morning rain delayed the start from 10.30 am until 3.00 pm, when Graeme Smith asked India to bat in damp conditions, a decision met with cheers from the smattering of spectators at SuperSport Park.

Smith said he was undecided about what to do but the dampness of the surface prompted him to give his bowlers first use of the pitch. Dhoni concurred, saying the wicket looked alright on the top but there was plenty of moisture underneath.

South Africa had only one choice to make to finalise their XI and they picked the left-arm fast bowler, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, over Ryan McLaren. India’s spearhead, Zaheer Khan, failed to recover from a hamstring injury and his absence meant a debut for another left-arm seamer, Jaidev Unadkat.

The aim is to get 48 overs of play before stumps, which is incredible considering the scenes in the morning, when a substantial portion of the ground was covered and a tent was erected over the pitch, with fans and heaters inside, to keep it dry. The weather began to clear about an hour after the scheduled start and the ground staff and the drainage system began to work their magic. Their top efforts meant that Steyn v Sehwag won’t have to wait until day two.

South Africa: 1 Graeme Smith (capt), 2 Alviro Petersen, 3 Hashim Amla, 4 Jacques Kallis, 5 AB de Villiers, 6 Ashwell Prince, 7 Mark Boucher (wk), 8 Paul Harris, 9 Morne Morkel, 10 Dale Steyn, 11 Lonwabo Tsotsobe.

India: 1 Gautam Gambhir, 2 Virender Sehwag, 3 Rahul Dravid, 4 Sachin Tendulkar, 5 VVS Laxman, 6 Suresh Raina, 7 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 8 Harbhajan Singh, 9 Ishant Sharma, 10 Sreesanth, 11 Jaidev Unadkat.

Dhoni downplays Tendulkar’s role against South Africa

OHANNESBURG: India captain MS Dhoni downplayed the role of batting superstar Sachin Tendulkar on Monday ahead of a three-Test series against South Africa

Much of the media hype before the first Test from Thursday at Centurion Park centres on the showdown between Tendulkar, seeking his 50th Test ton, and South Africa pace ace Dale Steyn.

But Dhoni told a media conference at the match venue that the clashes between the Tests sides ranked first and second in the world with India on top were all about teamwork.

“Cricket is a team sport and not about individuals. We place more importance on the process and how we are preparing for the Tests,” the 29-year-old right-hand batsman stressed.

“We know how much talent there is in the Indian squad. Preparing well and adapting well … these are the areas we are concentrating on right now,” he added.

South Africa coach Corrie van Zyl backed the Indian skipper: “It is an excellent Indian team and if you are talking about them, you cannot single out individuals.”

Dhoni was upbeat about the wickets amid reports South Africa are preparing pace-and-bounce-friendly ones to aid their seamers at the expense of the Indian spinners.

“Most of our cricketers are used to playing here, whether it is the shorter forms of the game or Test cricket. We will assess the wickets and decide how we need to play.”

The skipper said the Indian attack had impressed at home and abroad on wickets that were not always supportive with the bowlers adapting quickly and successfully to trigger victories.

He also dismissed statistics showing India have won only one of nine previous Tests in South Africa, stressing the series was not about history or past achievements.

South Africa received a double boost Monday when captain Graeme Smith and fellow batsman Hashim Amla were cleared to play in the first Test after recovering from injury.

Smith broke the ring finger on his leg hand in a one-day game against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates last month and Amla hurt his wrist fielding in a Test against the same country.

After Tests at Centurion, Kingsmead in Durban and Newlands in Cape Town, South Africa and India play a Twenty20 game on January 9 in Durban followed by five ODIs spread around the country.

Modi to go to court to stop Monday’s IPL meeting

April 22, 2010 Leave a comment

Officials investigating his alleged financial shenanigans visited Lalit Modi for the second time in less than 24 hours at his hotel in Mumbai. After spending close to six hours with them, Modi left the Four Seasons in his BMW and headed to Mukesh Ambani’s office in Nariman Point. He spent 45 minutes with the owner of the Mumbai
Indians, and later, flew by helicopter to DY Patil stadium to watch the Deccan Chargers take on the Chennai Super-Kings. (Read: Modi questioned about IPL broadcast rights deal)

Clearly, this is not a man who’s ready to give up his fight to survive as the Chairman and Commissioner of the Indian Premier League (IPL). But just in case you need to hear him say it, just rewind to earlier this week when he told jostling reporters that there is “no chance” of him resigning, even though his colleagues say they will force him out. And if its action and not words you want, well, Modi plans to go to court on Friday to stop Monday’s meeting where the IPL Governing Council plans to force him out.

Modi is the protagonist (or the villain, depending on who you talk to) in a cricket fairytale turned horror story. The funding of all team-owners and associates of the IPL is being carefully scrutinized by the government. Modi’s detractors say he has inflicted this inquiry on the world of Indian cricket with a series of careless tweets earlier this month. (Read: Lalit Modi takes on BCCI with e-mails)

The tweets targeted then minister Shashi Tharoor by questioning his support to and involvement in the consortium that won the franchise last month for the new Kochi team. The fallout was swift. Tharoor was forced to resign, and the government ordered a multi-agency inquiry into the IPL. (Read: Shashi Tharoor resigns after Congress says enough)

From proxy ownership by rich and powerful players to illegal foreign funding from tax havens like Mauritius, the investigation could blow the cover off both the IPL, and its elite guard. (Read: Nationwide IPL crackdown, SRK, Preity teams feel the heat)

The validity of Monday’s Governing Council meeting has been challenged by Modi. As Commissioner, he says, it’s up to him to call meetings. He made his point in no uncertain terms in an email to Shashank Manohar, the man who many say will replace him as IPL Chief. Manohar is currently the President of cricket’s finial body in India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Modi has threatened to go to court on Friday to stop Monday’s meeting. Manohar, and others on the IPL governing council, say that won’t change their minds.

What Modi has suggested is that the meeting be postponed to give him some more time to prepare his defense. If that’s not acceptable, he says, he will not attend the meeting.

Manohar says Modi can be voted out even if he’s absent. In an interview to NDTV, Mansoon Ali Khan Pataudi, who is also on the governing council, said Modi will only make things worse for himself if he skips the session. Pataudi said it behooves Modi to request an extension in person. (Read & watch:

Modi

: If Modi skips Monday meet, he’s out)

Modi’s defense strategy, by his own admission, will be anchored on the argument that every decision that he took was sanctioned by the Governing Council. Everyone’s guilty, if crimes were committed. So far, his camp has released emails that show he was turned down when he requested that the stakeholders of all IPL teams be publicly named. (Read: Lalit Modi’s email suggested revealing all IPL stakeholders)

Manohar was among those who rejected Modi’s suggestion, but that, Manohar says, is because it would have violated confidentiality clauses in agreements with team-owners.

Income tax officials meanwhile continued, on Thursday, to visit the offices of IPL team-owners to survey documents of ownership. In Lucknow, on Thursday, the Sahara offices were checked out; Sahara bought the Pune team last month. The headquarters of GMR, which owns the Delhi Daredevils, were also surveyed. On Wednesday, the offices of team-owners in Kolkata, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Chennai were all frequented by Income Tax officials. (Read: Income Tax inquiries: Sahara surveyed, KKR summoned)

At the same time, Modi was asked in person at the Four Seasons hotel for a copy of the telecast rights’ contract – a deal worth billions of dollars, and one that allegedly allowed Modi a kickback. A few hours before Modi was questioned, the offices of the two companies who hold broadcast rights for the IPL, World Sports Group and Multi Screen Media, were raided. (Read: Telecaster denies any wrong doing in IPL deal)

Sources say the inquiry by tax officials will continue into next week. The goal is to assess income and expenditure of all IPL team-owners. Officials say major sponsors and advertisers of IPL will also be investigated.

In another dramatic turn to the whole episode on Monday, the much-awaited wedding of tennis star Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik was performed at a five-star hotel around 1:00 p.m. as per the Muslim religious customs. The nikah was performed in the presence of a select gathering comprising only the family members of the the groom and the bride.

There was high drama at Sania’s residence as the celebrity figure left her posh residence at Jubilee Hills accompanied by her parents, Imran Mirza and Naseema Mirza, and sister Anam Mirza.

A battery of cameramen, from print and electronic media, chased the bride to the venue, which was initially kept a secret for security reasons.

A close relative of Mirzas described the ceremony, which lasted for ten minutes as a ‘very simple affair’. Family members of Sania and close relatives of Malik including his sisters, brothers-in-law attended the function, he told The Hindu.

The two families later adjourned for lunch at the same venue.

Keen to put an end to speculation and avoidable criticism, the families decided to go ahead with the ‘nikah’ ahead of the earlier announced date of April 15. Sources pointed out the families steered clear of all possible legal hurdles before going ahead with today’s ceremony by seeking necessary counsel.

Shoaib’s passport was collected by the police, after they registered cases against him, following a complaint by Ayesha Siddiqui, a Hydreabadi woman, who claimed that the cricketer had married her earlier. The passport is still with the police. The controversy over Ayesha and Shoaib’s marriage ended with the Pakistani had ‘divorced’ her after community elders intervened.
