Step-by-Step guide to Facebook Conversion Tracking

Step 1: Once you log in to your ‘Ads Manager’ tab, click on the Conversion Tracking button on the left side bar.

FB-1

Step 2: Then click on the ‘Create Conversion Pixel’ tab to begin the process.

FB-2

Step 3: You will be directed to this pop-up, which will ask you for a:

1. Name: An appropriate name will help you remember what you are tracking. (Example: Lead Generation – GATE Ad)

2. Category: This will help you decide the type of action that you want to track on your site. You can choose from the following:

1. Checkouts

2. Registrations

3. Leads

4. Key Page Views

5. Adds to Cart

6. Other Website Conversions

(For the purpose of this example, we have selected ‘Leads’).

FB-3

Step 4: You will be able to see a pop-up window with a JavaScript code. This is the code that you will have to add to the page where the conversion will happen. This will let you track the conversions back to ads which you are running on Facebook.

FB-4

The code should be placed on the page that a user will finally see when the transaction is complete.

Here is the tricky part. The code should not go on all pages. For that matter, it should not even go to the landing page of your product. The code should be placed on the page that a user will finally see when the transaction is complete.

For Example: If you want to track when students register for your GATE coaching, paste the code on the registration confirmation page/thank you page and not on the form that they need to submit.

How do you confirm that your conversion is working properly?

1. Check that the javascript snippet has been placed on the correct conversion page. Visit the page where the pixel has been embedded, right click and go to ‘View Page Source’ to find the pixel. The code should have the tag of the HTML. See image below.

FB-5

2. Check that Facebook is receiving the conversion events from your website. Go to the conversion tracking tab in your Ads Manager account. There you will see a list of the conversion tracking pixels that you have created. If the conversion tracking pixel has been successfully implemented and a conversion event has been recorded, it will be reflected in the Pixel Status column. If the status shows active, it means that the page which contains the pixel has been viewed by users. If it shows inactive, it means that over the last 24 hours, the page with the pixel has not been viewed.

FB-6

3.Later, when you  create your Facebook ad , you need to check the track conversions box under the campaign, pricing and schedule tab to enable tracking.

Explore the REST API

April 12, 2012 1 comment

I have had the pleasure of working with the WordPress.com REST API over the past few weeks and am very excited to start “dogfooding” this resource everywhere I can.

One cool feature is that all the endpoints are self-documenting. In fact, the documentation for the REST API is built by the API itself! With this information we were able to build a console to help debug and explore the various resources that are now available through the new API. So let me introduce you to the new REST console for WordPress.com.

A word of caution: the console is only available when you are logged into WordPress.com and is hooked up to the live system, so be careful with your POST requests!

At its simplest you can supply the method, path, query, and body for the resource you wish to examine (it’s pre-populated with /me). Press “Submit” to see the response status for your request and an expandable JSON object that you can explore. All links listed under meta are active, so click one to make another request.

To get a better idea of what kind of parameters a request can take, select it under the “Reference” section. It will then provide an interface with some contextual help to let you know which path, query, and body parameters it accepts, what each of those parameters are for, and a field for you to provide the value.

‘Avan Ivan’ thrills Yuvan

September 10, 2010 Leave a comment

Yuvan Shankar Raja, who is composing tunes for national award winner Bala’sAvan Ivan‘, is all thrilled. The movie, supposedly a comedy caper, features Arya and Vishal together.

On working for the movie, Yuvan opened up saying, “Working for ‘Avan Ivan’, the track sounds new to me! but Indian nothing western for this film!”. Oh doesn’t that remind of his sensational village tunes for ‘Paruthi Veeran’.

Yuvan also says, “We have recorded live for ‘Avan Ivan’. The songs have come good”. Meanwhile, the music composer has denied reports that he is working in a Hindi film. He quickly says “’I’m not doing AAKROSH BGMs!”.

The younger son of maestro Illayaraja is riding high on a success wave with his songs turning out to be chartbusters right from the beginning of the year. ‘Goa‘, ‘Paiyaa‘ and the recent ‘Naan Mahaan Alla‘, to name a few.

Singam Movie Review

Cop stories doesn’t necessarily mean the hero bashing goons, mouthing punch dialogue or standing stiff. The cop can be simple, straight forward and still accomplish his mission.

Filmmaker Hari and actor Suriya, who come together after ‘Aaru’ and ‘Vel’, have laced ‘Singam’, Suriya’s 25th movie, with such events that sustain the attention of masses all through. Both have a major responsibility on their shoulders as their earlier cop stories (‘Samy’ and ‘Kaakha Kaakha‘ respectively) did raise the bar in Kollywood. ‘Singam’, which sounds a masculine title, is a pukka commercial entertainer.

Though the story may sound similar to many mass masala movies before, Hari’s pacy treatment to the screenplay and Suriya’s screen presence gives necessary pep.

A collage of action, song, romance and comedy at right mix has always been a safe bet. With Suriya at the helm of affairs, the commercial cocktail straightaway sticks to our heart. The movie comes with a huge star cast as in any of the Hari film before.

Besides Suriya, it has Anushka, Vivek, Prakash Raj, Nasser, Sumitha, Manorama, Vijayakumar, Bose Venkat and ‘Nizhalgal’ Ravi to name a few in the cast.

The movie tells the tale of a simple and sincere police officer Duraisingam alias Singam (Suriya), a sub inspector in Nallur in Tuticorin district. He wants to run the family business – running a provision shop and convert it to a huge departmental store. But his father (Radha Ravi) fantasizes him to become a cop. He lives up to his father’s words and becomes a sub-inspector in the local police station.

An amiable family, Singam lives at peace with everyone. Obviously their family is respected a lot in the village. Enters Kavya (Anushka), on a vacation to the village to her grandparents’ house. She comes across Singam and his upright manner and righteous nature attracts her. It’s romance between them.

There is ‘Eatu’ Erimalai (Vivek), who works as a head constable in the police station. Fate now enters in the form of Mayilvaganan (Prakash Raj), a dreaded baddie in Chennai who is into evil acts to make money. He is aided by his brother Vaikundan (Aadhi). He bumps off an old man in Nallur village when he denies parting with money demanded by him.

The old man was constructing a house in the village thanks to his sons’ money from abroad. His death has severe repercussions as his sons shoot a mail on the death to the embassy. This leaves in the arrest of Mayivaganan, who manages to get a conditional bail that he has to appear at Nallur police station and sign everyday.

Mayilvaganan comes face to face with Singam and his upright ways increases his wrath. He uses his might to get Singam promoted as inspector and brings him to Chennai. It’s now a cat and mouse game between Singam and Mayilvaganan.

Singam comes across another side of Mayilvaganan – that he runs a kidnap racket and gets away with ransom. By bringing to books the nasty side of Mayilvaganan, the Home Minister (Vijayakumar) promotes him as ACP –Anti Corruption Squad operations. Meanwhile Singam’s chase begins. How he accomplishes his mission forms the climax to a movie that begins in Nallur, (TN) and ends in Nellore, (AP).

Its out-and-out Suiriya show. He plays a cop who is in total contrast to Anbu Selvan in ‘Kaakha Kaakha’. If Anbu was stiff and serious, Singam is cool but furious. The latter is friendly and has strings in his culture. Suriya is flawless in his expressions and delivers his best body language.

Anushka is more than a regular heroine here. She romances with Suriya and got a few scenes to perform too. Prakash Raj is the scene-stealer back to do what he knows the best. He is menacing with his eyes and does a good role that he has done many a time before. Vivek as head constable evokes laughter.

Devi Sri Prasad‘s racy music is another highlight. His fast songs compliment the swift screenplay. Priyan’s cinematography is cool and pleasant.

Due credit goes to Hari. The man in his 10th film has given a movie that has his stamp in the form of an entertaining and engrossing screenplay. Unlike his earlier films where there would be wild chase and men all over with aruvals, ‘Singam’ comes with a difference.

Produced by Gnanavel Raja and presented by Sun Pictures, ‘Singam’ is the king of the masses, who love action and commercial films.

Singam Review

Banner: Big Pictures, Sun Pictures
Producer: KE Gnanavelraja
Director: Hari
Star-casts: Suirya, Anushka Shetty, Prakash Raj, Nasser, Vivek, Cameo, Manorama…
Music Director: Devi Sri Prasad
Lyrics: Viveka, Na Muthukumar, And Hari

Hip Hip Hooray! Surya’s 25th film ‘Singam’ has its album arriving today at stores and we bring you the first exclusive music review on this film. The album has 6 tracks with a colossal touch of DSP factor in every song. A mass-hero portrayal followed by couple of romantic duets and a mesmerizing sole to melt down your hearts… Don’t miss Baba Segal’s queer Kuthu number with an eccentric take from Devi Sri Prasad.

The first song is a title number ‘Naane Indiran’ is a typical mass hero song taken by Benny Dayal. Manicka Vinayagam starts the song with his introduction about the hero. This has a social message about being well and good maintaining good relationship with all in the neighborhood. The song will be a sure hit once the Sun Pictures are starting to provide publicity for the film.

The second song ‘En Idhayam’ has happening pairs Suchitra and Tippu cheerfully adding the romantic feel to this duet song. Na. Muthukumar has written lyrics for this song and receives good attention. Suchitra and Tipp have done a great job and is expected that the song is shot in foreign locations.

‘Stole My Heart’ is a western type song that begins something like ‘Oh Maha Zeeya’ and hard metal rocks join the song. Shaan has got himself glued severely to this heart melting western type romantic song. It has some peppy tune just like DSP’s earlier music in Telugu. Megha has equivalently done a good job just as Shaan.

The following song ‘Kadhal Vandhale’ will be a mass commercial hit as we have an energetic song in the ‘Chandrababu’ type melodies. Again it is the singers with unusual combination that make the song sound good and catchy. Baba Segal, the topmost singer in Bollywood has rendered the song along with Priyadarshini. It has simple lyrics and rap lyrics with local Kuthu beats and will be on No.1 position.

‘Singam Singam’ is a theme song of Singam that is sung by Devi Sri Prasad… The stunning hard beats and continuous metal guitars rolling on the tracks make it more unique as on a signature song. Will this be a title song or a background song whenever Suriya is on the mission as a police ?.

‘Stole My Heart’ on the unplugged version has a melodic touch and has the same tune from previous version.

Finally, the duo combo Suriya-Devi Sri Prasad has accomplished with yet another album comprised with chartbusters. Make sure, you buy a copy of ‘Singam’ as it’s the best way to keep you engaged with enjoyable music.

Nanayam – Movie Review

January 18, 2010 Leave a comment

-Prasanna, Sibiraj, Ramya

MovieNanayam Director – Sakthi S Rajan Music – James Vasanthan Cast -Prasanna, Sibiraj, Ramya

Style is good if there is substance. After seeing the hype around Nanayam, one anticipated a cracker of a thriller. Alas, it turns out to be a run of the mill assembly line thriller, particularly post interval.

The film is enticing in the beginning, but as the story opens up, there are far too many loopholes in the plot. We plunge right into the life and times of Ravi (Prasanna), an electronics engineer who designed the vaults of the “world’s safest bank” and wants to become an entrepreneur and has applied for a loan from the same bank. Viswanath (SPB) the CEO of the bank who helped Ravi to get the job, rejects his application.

Meanwhile Ravi meets Nandini (Ramya) a journalist and in the very first meeting gets smitten by her. Nandini claims to be a divorcee, and after spending a night with her on the beach on reaching home he finds a stranger sitting in his home and dictating terms to him. He also finds Nandini’s ex-husbands body in the dickey of his car!
The stranger who comes into his life is Fareed (Sibiraj) who blackmails him as he shows him photographs about Ravi’s involvement in the murder of Nandini’s ex- husband. The way out offered by Fareed to Ravi is that he should help him rob the bank whose security system he set up, as he has his own axe to grind against Viswanath.
The trouble with the film etched from the 2008 English film The Bank Job, is that the suspense elements are revealed early in the second half. How can an intelligent guy like the hero of the film not realize that he is being taken for a sucker ride by his lady love? The way Nandini dances her way through laser beams is laughable. Songs are a major distraction in the film, and it pops up every 15 minutes.
Prasanna as the nice guy in a bad situation is impressive and carries the show, while Sibiraj as the mean bad man is a revelation. Ramya and Yasmin are their mostly for the songs. The music of James Vasanthan is a major let down. Let us hope that director Sakthi S Rajan takes a little more care on his scripts and churns out the perfect thriller in future.

Verdict- Thriller with no suspense!

VETTAIKAARAN MUSIC REVIEW

October 21, 2009 Leave a comment

vettaikaran-shooting

Music Director : Vijay Antony
Vocals : Ananthu, Mahesh Vinayakram, Krish, Suchitra, Bone Killer, Dinesh Kanagarathinam, Shankar Mahadevan, Surchith, Sangeetha Rajeswaran, Krishna Iyer, Shoba Sekar, Charulatha Mani, Shakthi Sree.
Lyrics : Kabilan, Viveka, Annamalai.

Produced by M. Balasubramanian and B. Gurunath Meyyappan and directed by B. Babu Sivan, this much-hyped film of Vijay could be released for Diwali. Vijay appears to play the role of an autorikshaw driver who wishes to ‘bring peace’ to the country. Anushka Shetty, Salim Ghouse, Vivek, Srihari and Srinath star along with him. Many racy action sequences in this movie appear to have been done boldly by Vijay himself, which could be a treat for his fans. The music for this film has been composed by Vijay Antony (whose ‘Ninaithale Inikkum’ has been doing pretty decently).

Puli Urumuthu—
Vocals: Ananthu, Mahesh Vinayakram.
Lyrics: Kabilan

A song full of hyperbolic expressions, obviously an action-packed number! Heavy use of Indian percussive instruments characterize this song which takes off in the madhyama shruti with shades of Mayamalavagowla raga .

The relentless pace of the song could add to the dramatic effect on screen.

Chinna Thamarai—
Vocals: Krish, Suchitra, English Rap: Bone Killer, Tamil Rap: Dinesh Kanagarathinam.
Lyrics: Viveka

Plenty of keyboard sounds, we have here. The rather strident rhythms somehow seem to rob the song of any melody. The Tamil rap bit sounds cool. The lyrics are crisp.

Naan Adiccha—
Vocals: Shankar Mahadevan.
Lyrics: Kabilan

Poor Shankar Mahadevan tries his very best to infuse a spark into this song (probably the title number) but to no avail. The beats, the lyrics and the sentiments expressed (akin to MGR songs) are pretty jaded. A wee bit of gibberish in between, in trademark Vijay Anthony style! Strictly for Vijay fans. The start, though, is pretty stylish, with the Karaharapriya notes going ‘sa ni sa,sa ni sa, sa ni dha ma pa—pa ma ga—sa’. And there is a cute bit by Vijay’s son Sanjay at the end!

Karikalan—
Vocals: Surchith, Sangeetha Rajeswaran.
Lyrics: Kabilan

A very cheerful, smile-worthy duet based on the Tilang raga, which may hit the charts soon. Lovely inputs from the strings and percussive instruments. Well sung too, especially Sangeetha. The impish background vocals hold up the folksy mood of the song well.

En Ucchi Mandai—
Vocals: Krishna Iyer, Shoba Sekar, Charulatha Mani, Shakthi Sree.
Lyrics: Annamalai

Another very typical Vijay number, with predictably fast rhythms and blasé lyrics. How many such songs must Vijay endure before he moves on?

Verdict:

Vijay Anthony appears to have been trapped by the image of actor Vijay (as a dancer) which seems to have narrowed his musical options. The songs, coming one after another, sound similar rhythm-wise. One sincerely hopes the film has been crafted well and does not sink like ‘Kuruvi’ or ‘Villu’, in which case, the songs could be forgotten in a trice.
