Billa 2 – First Review from a fan in Chennai!

July 13, 2012 1 comment

The reason why ajithkumar accepted to act or to even think of a prequel is evident. It has strong-hitting script.
And the film starts with a voice from behind re-visiting an ordinary coastal men’s life. Ajith as an ordinary coastal man starting to live his life pretty simple with his region people..He gets introduced to a drug and weapon dealers by his coastal head , he agrees to work for them considering the poor livelihood of his family, as predicted he was being cheated by the dealers and whole kundos captured him and his coastal people and made them to Agathigal for money which they gonna get later !

Thereby, heroeines enter and fall for ajith’s pity situation and bad lights he undergo , how ajith learns all the arts from them and transform as an Underworld don who gets control of entire network after the death of Sudhanshu Pandey form a rest of the Story.

You would have known this is a simple story and coming to the performance by lead artists.

Ajith (david) when reforms as don shown with his slick and style appearance and dialogues, but failed to justify the character when being Agathi. He looked unselected for the refugee role no offence meant, he still has not come out of Mankatha hangover. He could have reduced his weight though. And he excels in transforming show and in some places he over acted and emoted in poor sense. Bruna Abdullah & Parvathy appeared too much sexy and too much show off and nothing more for their role. Some scenes should’ve been deleted for adult content .

Vidhyut as side-villain rocked in looks. But his voice dubbing was not matched.

Music was good in parts. Madhurai Ponnu and Unakule Mirugam were poorly picturised. Other three was good. BGM had no new compositions, Yuvan just re-used the old_billa part 1 themes here.

Cinematography was Awesome. Red Epic worked to some extent but in some places it looked so contrast and dull grey which harms some audience..

There were lots of violence scenes present and some sexually explicit content could have been avoided although it rated Adultery film.

climax was not convincing and they’ve missed the point what makes Ajith as David Billa and less was said on it. The film is noway near to entertaining mankatha in terms of content and scenes. I did not enjoy the film as i enjoyed Mankatha.

Positives :-

-Ajith’s performance as Transforming a Don(david billa)

Songs

-2nd half locations

Negatives :-

– Ajith as coastalman(David) was miscast

-1st half was so dragging

– Dialogues given to other non tamil artists except Ajith were pretty rubbish.

-mindless violenc scenes and back sound

-Adultery scenes in some parts were used extreme

-Climax so illogical and not convincing.

-Predictable Scenes towards the end.

New Official Trailer of the Movie Mankatha

Mankatha Preview

Mankatha
Banner: Cloud Nine Movies
Cast: Ajith, Arjun, Trisha, Lakshmi Rai
Direction: Venkat Prabhu
Production: Dhayanithi Alagiri
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja

There is a lot of anticipation, there are a host of stars, then there is ‘Thala’ and this will be his 50th innings in Tamil!

Venkat Prabhu’s ‘Mankatha‘ has raised expectations by leaps and bounds among Ajith fans and film buffs. The film sees Ajith in a first-time ever full-fledged negative character, suggest reports closely associated with the film. Trisha will play female lead with Arjun chipping in as a CBI officer.

Andrea Jeremiah, Lakshmi Rai, Premji Amaran, Vaibhav, and Anjali will be seen essaying important roles. Even the smallest incident from the sets of ‘Mankatha’ has garnered a lot of media attention and we have updated you regarding many interesting aspects which took place on-location as well as while the shooting was going on.

A single from the music album ‘Vilayadu Mankatha…’ which released on the eve of Thala’s birthday was lapped up by Ajith and Yuvan fans alike and is topping music charts. Now the team has confirmed that the rest of the songs, nine tracks on the whole, will see a grand release on July 18!

The fans expectations are mounting, and with Yuvan scoring the music we can expect some chartbusting numbers on its way.

Ajith committed himself for a rigorous 90-day shooting schedule. The actor has done a lot of hard work for this film which is evident from the way some scenes have shaped up. The racer has also performed some hair-raising car chases without using a body-double (do you remember the 360 degree rotation he did on a Swift?).

Another aspect that has received a lot of attention is the look that ‘Thala’ will sport in this film. The actor has decided to have a natural hairdo sans any colour-the salt and pepper look which Ajith will be seen sporting in ‘Mankatha’ will urge many men to shun hair colour, reveals the director of the film.

The film has been shot extensively from Chennai, Mumbai (particularly Dharavi), Hyderabad, Bangkok, and Macau. Ajith wrapped up his final day shooting from Hyderabad.

Even before the release of ‘Mankatha’ there are some rumours doing the rounds that some producers are eager for a Hindi remake, though nothing regarding this has been confirmed yet.

The film which deals with the gambling game will have the IPL matches as the backdrop and is expected to hit theatres around the Independence Day weekend.

Chikku Bhukku Music Review

Chikku Bukku’ is a Mediaone Global Entertainment Limited film by Majestic Multimedia Limited. Mediaone is the banner which produced the classy action film ‘Dhaam Dhoom‘ last year which was also spoken for its music and songs by Harris Jayaraj.

This film, directed by K. Manigandan, former associate of late director Jeeva, has Aarya, Shriya Saran and debutante Preetika, the younger sister of Bollywood star Amrita Rao, in important roles

The music is composed by Colonial cousins Hari & Leslie. This is their second film after ‘Modhi Vilayadu’. The album has seven songs. Two songs and the background score were composed by Pravin Mani, who is a longtime associate of AR Rahman.

Chikku Bhukku Listen here

Artist(s): Benny Dayal, Rahul Nambiar, Maya, Sree Charan
Lyricist: Pa. Vijay

This must be the intro song of the hero in the movie. With its naughty ‘Tanglish’ lyric and hip-hop rhythm the songs is lifted up by the vocals of Benny Dayal and Rahul Nambiar. The techno grooves clearly remind the music directors belong to Indipop genre.

Oru Nila Listen here

Artist(s): Shankar Mahadevan, Chandreyee Bhattacharya, Uma Padmanabhan
Lyricist: Vaali

Opens with Tamil chaste greetings by Uma Padmanaban and then Shankar Mahadevan invites with his flavoured voice.  The delightful tune has utter north Indian beats and rhythms for the background that alienates you a bit. But Shankar Mahadevan and Chandreyee Bhattacharya and a better lyric manage to salvage. Repeated listening may increase the life of this song much like early ARR songs. Pick of the pack.

Zara Zara Listen here

Artist(s): Benny Dayal, Lavanya
Lyricist: Pa. Vijay

Zara Zara is fast, energetic, youthful, electronic beats. Must be a travel song where hero and heroine cover some distance together singing this song. Peppy throughout but what does Zara Zara mean in Tamil guys?

Smile Listen here

Artist(s): Suchith Suresan
Lyricist: Pa. Vijay

The Latino feel in the song sounds different. This song is to bring the upset girl friend back to her good moods. Guitars accompany most of this casual song which is fresh and vividly colourful. The relaxed tempo suits well for this song. Singer Suchith Suresan has done well.

Thooral Nindralum Listen here

Artist(s): Hariharan, Wadali Brothers
Lyricist: Vaali

Opens with a prosaic invocation of love. The singing begins with supportive vocals in a Sufi Qawali stye by Wadali Brothers. The chorus gives a period folksy feel reminding the songs of recent ‘Madaarasapattinam’. The tablas and flutes unleash predictable rhythms. Hariharan puts life into the songs with his melodious voice but the Wadali Brothers nullifies his effort. Wonder why so much Hindi lines are added to this song? Is the heroine Shriya is from Punjab in the film?

Vizhi Oru Paadhi Listen here

Artist(s): Adnan Sami, Sujatha
Lyricist: Vaali

Adnan is great for his Hindi numbers but for Tamil he is still not ready. It’s not a techno trance song where words hardly matter. A very good melody somewhat spoiled by Adnan Sami though the brilliant Sujatha tries to save it. Very poetic words in the song elevate the romantic thoughts. This song would have been one of the most cherished melodies of the year had it been sung by a seasoned Tamil singer. Colonial Cousins have missed a great opportunity.

Adi Saarale Listen here

Artist(s): Pradeep Vijay, Suvi
Lyricist: Pa. Vijay

This song is the only pure romantic duet in this album and the shortest. Rain songs usually lend a lot freedom for all to experiment with their creativity and this song is one to prove.  Starts slowly to reach the high notes and then meanders touching many different interesting rhythms. Multiple violins show the many shades in love and loneliness.

To sum it up, the Colonial Cousins have done better than their first film ‘Modhi Vilayadu’. But still they aren’t able to touch the right chords in Tamil. They still like to play around with their Indipop style that made them stars up north. With a Hindustani Hariharan and the Western Leslie this duo could have done much better.  One good thing in the album is that you can infer the situations the songs will be placed in the film.
